The Blog's Influence on the Presidential Election!

The Blogmaster has been enjoying the relative peace and quiet of the summer and post election politics in AW. Given this recent local political calm, it just didn't seem right to be completely out of the fray.  So in the interest of stirring the pot, keeping the neighborhood on its toes, and to reiterate how little the critics of the Blog really know, some interesting facts need to be reported.

Remember last fall when there was a hue and cry about the Blog's effect on real estate in AW? There were a number of AW members (mainly those of the licensed realtor ilk), who steadfastly maintained that the Blog had singelhandedly caused the collapse of real estate values here in AW. In the interest of supporting real estate values (and to deflect criticism from their mismanagement), certain AW board members used our money to take legal action against the Blog. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed. These cooler heads actually figured out what the Board hot heads were up to and utilized sufficient doses of cold water to extinguish the flames of waste and mismanagement.

Be that as it may, eight months have gone by, and despite the Blog's hibernation, the collapse in real estate values has not similarly taken a rest. As anyone with a pulse has probably figured out, the problem with real estate nationwide had little, actually nothing, to do with the Blog. Witness Cape Coral, which has been defined in certain national publications as "foreclosure" central.  Fortunately, the Blog has had little to say about Cape Coral lest it be accused of causing real estate pricing issues there also. Regardless, those "in denial" critics of the Blog in AW might simply still believe that the Blog has only exacerbated what was likely a manageable problem. To them I say: read a newspaper every once in a while.

Everyone knows, or should know, that real estate prices nationwide are been falling, and for reasons beyond the cause or influence of the Blog. We had an unrealistic, and unsustainable increase in real estate prices, that was simply history repeating itself so soon after dot.com. The Blogmaster can assure everyone that the Blog had as much to do with real estate prices as it did with stock prices, which is nothing. Needless to say, there are probably those who remain unconvinced, and in which case, because of the relative importance of November 5, the Blog will simply keep quiet in order to avoid critcism for unduly influencing the election and being held responsible for the events occurring for the next four years thereafter. Vindication is the sweetest revenge, or, in other words, "I told you so!"
